Here is a basic recipe for making bulgogi, a popular Korean dish made with thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet and savory sauce:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb beef sirloin, tenderloin, or ribeye, thinly sliced
- 1/2 onion, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
- 2-3 green onions, sliced diagonally
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the grated onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, sesame oil, and black pepper.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
- Heat a pan or grill over high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Note: You can adjust the amount of sugar and honey to your preference, or add sliced mushrooms or other vegetables to the marinade.
